The growing interest in Artificial Intelligence solutions in Latin America: perspectives and trends in web traffic

The topic of artificial intelligence is booming worldwide, and Latin American countries are no exception. These types of technologies are experiencing significant growth in adoption and application in various sectors, making it crucial to understand the use of these solutions in the region. Analyzing web traffic to these solutions allows for a better understanding of their reception in Latin America and how their adoption and development can be driven.

The study of web traffic to these specific solutions offers a clear view of the demand and interest in generative artificial intelligence in Latin America. This provides valuable information about the interests and needs of the regional market, and how to adapt and improve these solutions to meet those demands.

This analysis was based on the identification of the 15 most popular artificial intelligence tools websites on social networks worldwide. Subsequently, five websites from each of the three main categories were selected: chatbots, content generators, and image generators. Then, monthly traffic data was obtained based on information provided by Similarweb.com for five countries in the region for which data is available: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and Peru.

The results of the analysis of web traffic to artificial intelligence solutions reveal a marked interest and accelerated adoption rate in the selected countries of the region. This is directly associated with the launch of ChatGPT in January 2023, which began to gain popularity in April of the same year. In the months of July, August, and September, traffic stabilization is observed for this group of countries. Based on this data, it is possible to expect a similar behavior in the rest of the countries in the region regarding the explosion in the use of these tools.

The data also shows how web traffic to artificial intelligence pages varies in each country in the region. In Argentina, a notable increase is observed, especially in the second half of 2022 and the beginning of 2023. Brazil, on the other hand, shows a constant upward trend throughout the observed period, revealing a growing involvement with platforms and information about artificial intelligence. Chile presents fluctuations in web traffic, with ups and downs throughout the months, although there is a general increase, especially in the final part of the analyzed period. Mexico exhibits a constant increase, especially in the last months of 2022 and throughout 2023. Finally, Peru stands out for a substantial increase in web traffic, particularly evident from mid-2022, showing increasing interest and involvement in artificial intelligence platforms. Each country reflects a unique trajectory in web traffic to artificial intelligence pages, but together, they show a growing interest and use of artificial intelligence solutions in Latin America.

Of the countries analyzed, Brazil accounts for 36% of traffic, followed by Mexico with 22%, Peru with 18%, Argentina 13%, and Chile 11% as of September 2023.

The study of traffic by type and country reveals interesting patterns in the region. Brazil leads in visits to content generation platforms, followed by Mexico and Peru, reflecting a prominent interest in this type of tools. Regarding chatbots, Mexico tops the list, followed by Argentina and Peru, indicating a greater use of this technology in these countries. Finally, in image generation, Brazil and Mexico show higher figures, followed by Chile, indicating considerable adoption of these solutions. These trends highlight the diversity of interests and uses of artificial intelligence in Latin America, with different countries showing preferences for different types of tools and applications.

Analyzing traffic by type of solution, content generator websites account for 99% of the traffic, significantly surpassing both chatbots and image generators. With over a billion visits, content generators demonstrate their preponderance in the digital landscape of artificial intelligence, while chatbots and image generators, although important, represent considerably smaller proportions in comparison. This disparity highlights the preference or predominant demand for generated content over other forms of interaction or image creation on these websites.

In all analyzed countries, the predominant use of desktop computers is notably high, with Peru being the country with the highest percentage of access through this medium, followed by Chile and Argentina. On the other hand, access through mobile devices, although lower compared to desktop devices, also presents significant figures in all countries, highlighting the importance of adaptability and accessibility of artificial intelligence solutions on multiple platforms to meet the needs of users.

The results of the traffic by type of site and by type of device reveal interesting patterns in the region. In all types of sites, access through desktop devices is notably high, especially in chatbot and content generation platforms. However, it is noteworthy that access through mobile devices also shows significant figures, especially in image generation sites, demonstrating the relevance of the adaptability of these tools to meet the needs of users who prefer to access from their mobile devices. This variety in access percentages suggests the importance of multi-platform accessibility in artificial intelligence solutions.
