Latin America and Caribbean Marketplace Explorer (LACME)

The explorer provides data on the flow of visits and characteristics of websites and mobile apps for goods commerce in the B2C (business to consumer) segment. It includes digital platforms for online buying and selling, classified ads, auctions, offers, and price comparison. Platforms for buying and selling properties and/or services—such as jobs, travel, restaurant meals, car rentals, and financial services—are excluded.

LACME was prepared by the International Trade Centre (ITC), the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA), and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).

2,938 digital commerce platforms included in LACME

National and regional commerce platforms (local supply)

2,878 mobile apps and websites with a URL, subdomain, or specific page for a country in Latin America and the Caribbean, such as: Mercadolibre, Amazon, OLX, Shopee and Falabella. Global marketplaces targeting exclusively a country in the region are classified as local websites (e.g., amazon.com.br).
